THOUSAND DOLLAR WEEK 1: Start With Baby Steps

Done right, saving money is more fun than spending money.” – The Seven Dollar Millionaire

You may be really keen on starting this journey towards becoming a successful saver and a seven dollar millionaire, or you might be a little nervous.

Either way, the best approach is to begin with baby steps.
Don’t be worried you can’t do this, and don’t try to do everything in one go. Take the smallest, easiest, most simple step you can.

Maybe start on a Sunday or Monday, and plan the week ahead, so you can be ready for the changes you’re going to make.

Not everyone will have got this far. Some people won’t have opened this page. They won’t know this. They won’t have taken the step you’re taking. You win!

Prepare for the week ahead

You can save a lot of money not buying water, coffee or meals during workdays. Find a bottle, flask, or container to carry your food and drinks from home, and find out where you can refill for free. Can you find a bottle to use? Yes? You’re two steps ahead!

Plan

Decide what you’re going to eat for the week and how much this is going to cost you. Prepare in advance as much as possible: pre-cook or buy the ingredients you’re going to need.

Can you think of some simple meals to make at home to take to work? Write them down, when you’re going to make them – that’s you 3 steps ahead.

Read up on investing

Don’t scan the internet for celebrity or sports news. Find a good, reliable article about saving and investing: here is a good place to start. Start learning now so you feel more confident about investing your savings once you have more of them.
