Proof in the Pudding

We try really hard to be healthy here at the Seven Dollar Millionaire, eating salads and working out on days ending in a Y. But sometimes you can catch us eating fridge-cold peanut butter with a spoon, without a care in the whole world. Here are some tips on how you can get those delicious hits of dopamine for free!

I refuse to believe there’s any food quite as moreish as an Oreo — slightly crisp, slightly soft, and so wonderfully cocoa-y that it coats your teeth and tongue, it’s impossible to stop eating them. Luckily, Oreos also lend themselves wonderfully to making desserts, since they taste so good already. This recipe beefs up Oreas with cream cheese and melted chocolate to make cheesecake balls that you can prep in just five minutes! (It’s easily vegan-ified too, by just replacing the ingredients with the vegan alternatives.)

There’s also the delicious classic of banana pancakes, which is one of my pantry staples. You don’t actually need anything more than just banana and flour, actually — mashing them both into batter and frying in a pan to create a sticky, sweet fritter that gets even better when your bananas are going brown. Delicious and vegan, this is a perfect one to have on Saturday mornings (or midnights!) when the urge to live in a slightly kinder world is unbearable.

Or maybe you really do not have the energy whatsoever to cook, and you still need something sweet. At uni, in a fit of mad desperation, I would microwave bananas in a mug with a square of dark chocolate, topping the sweet sludge after with chopped up semi-stale almonds. This is a great thing to eat if you are craving warm hands as much as a full belly. Ready in seconds and gone just as quickly, there’s really not much better.
